Successful community festival grateful of grant boost

Thousands of people enjoyed an action-packed Irlam & Cadishead Community Festival – with a little help from CSG.

This week’s popular festival saw people from across the region flock to Prince’s Park for family fun, including street entertainment, music, games, fun fair rides and food.

Eager to support the local community, CSG made a £500 donation towards the festival through the Community Chest initiative.

The cash was used towards enhancing the children’s activities at the Bank Holiday event.

Irlam & Cadishead Community Festival Deputy Chair Richard Abernethy said: “We were very grateful to CSG for their support.

“This event has a long and varied history going all the way back to 1950, peaking at around 15,000 visitors in its pomp.

“We are now independent from the council and we’re determined to keep growing and improving the event, though of course funding is always a challenge.

“This year the event featured live music, street theatre, a dance stage, a garden festival, a junior football tournament, free kids’ activities, the much-loved fun dog show and a street market.

“The money from CSG allowed us to put on extra activities for the children.”

CSG is a 90-year-old waste specialist, helping households and organisations nationwide by offering a complete variety of services including septic tank emptying and treatment, as well as recovery and disposal of specialist waste such as chemicals and oil.

Its Cadishead facility is the company’s flagship waste processing centre.

Daryl Tunningley, Marketing Manager at CSG, said: “We were proud to support Irlam & Cadishead Community Festival, which has been a staple on the local calendar for many years.

“We have donated thousands of pounds already this year to good causes up and down the country through our Community Chest programme and look forward to awarding more grants in the months to come.”
