Children at a Redcar school are exploring different ways to play – thanks to leading waste management specialist CSG.
Westgarth Primary School, on Redcar Road, has signed up to the OPAL Programme, which helps schools across the country redesign their playgrounds and provision to help encourage new ways of play.
CSG’s Teesside base in Middlesbrough has thrown its support behind the project by donating £600 towards new materials for the play area through its Community Chest initiative.
Rachael Greenwood, of Westgarth Primary School, said: “We are so grateful to CSG for their support. We are committed to making playtime more interesting and exciting for our pupils and CSG have really embraced our plans.
“The OPAL Primary Programme is all about giving children a different play experience, providing them with basic materials to ignite their imagination and allow creativity to flourish. They can build, climb and explore their limits in a safe environment.
“This money will allow us to buy new materials for the children to enjoy.”
CSG has 30 bases across the UK, helping householders and organisations by offering a complete variety of services ranging from waste collection through to treatment, recovery and disposal of countless waste streams.
Its Middlesbrough-based operation, which has 50 members of staff, specialises in processing and correctly disposing of oily water, interceptor waste, marine waste, engine oil and coolants from manufacturers primarily in Teesside, Newcastle and North Yorkshire.
Daryl Tunningley, Marketing Manager at CSG, said: “We’re delighted to support Westgarth Primary School with its project to improve playtime for its children.
“CSG is celebrating 90 years in business this year. The company has always played an active role in the areas in which we are based but last year launched the Community Chest programme as a new way of offering financial support to good causes.
“We have already donated thousands of pounds through the programme and plan to support many more organisations moving forward.”
