CSG helps halt misogyny through donation

A training organisation that seeks to challenge misogyny and gender-based violence in Dorset schools, academies and workplaces has received a funding boost.
Shut It Down – an equality education company launched by two teachers – has received a £1,000 boost from CSG through the waste management specialist’s Community Chest scheme.
The money will be used to deliver workshops and sessions to more young people in and around Bournemouth.
Joe Burkmar, Co-Director of Shut It Down, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this donation from CSG as we look to take our message further afield.
“Misogyny can take root in everyday school life. Harmful attitudes are too often dismissed as banter or ignored altogether. Letting those moments pass teaches young people that misogyny is normal, acceptable or too awkward to confront.
“Our work interrupts that cycle. We partner with schools to create space where behaviour can be challenged and educated, rather than brushed aside.”
CSG is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace and has an above-average number of female managers, as well as below-average gender pay gap.
Steve Hicks, Operations Director of CSG, said: “According to an Ofsted report, 40% of students experience gender-based harassment at school. According to another study, 60% of high school boys admit to engaging in misogynistic behaviour towards female students.
“Those statistics are quite alarming and we are pleased organisations such as Shut It Down exist to try and make a positive impact. We’re pleased to be able to support their good work through this donation and wish the team success in the future.”
CSG helps households and organisations by offering a complete variety of services ranging from

The business has more than 650 employees spread over 30 UK locations, including its head office in Fareham and a large capacity sludge treatment centre in Botley.
