New games for overjoyed children at North Yorkshire primary school

Primary school children in Redcar and Cleveland are enjoying a host of brand-new games thanks to a generous donation from a leading waste management specialist.
CSG donated £600 to Whale Hill Primary School, on Sandsend Road, through its Community Chest scheme.
The school has used the donation to purchase several large outdoor games to keep the children engaged, which include Connect Four, noughts and crosses and dominoes as well as other items.
CSG donated the funds thanks to its Community Chest scheme, which supports good causes across the company’s 30 UK bases – its Middlesbrough site is nearby.

Alex Duncan, School Business Manager at Whale Hill Primary, said: “We have put bids in for funds in the past, and we managed to get an initial grant to create a nice new area with astroturf grass, but we needed some kind of resources, and that is what the donation from CSG has allowed us to do.
“The donation has enabled us to purchase new equipment for the children to use in an outdoor space, and they love it. We have also used some of the money to purchase some storage boxes to keep it all in.”
The school launched an Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) scheme in September, which is part of a national campaign, and the new resources now play an integral part in that initiative.
“It allows our children so many more things to play,” Alex continued. “What it also does is it gives the teachers more space to operate.
“It is safe to say we are incredibly grateful to CSG for providing the funding for the final round of improvements, and it is great to see the smiles on our kids’ faces now that they have a dedicated space to enjoy.”

CSG helps households and organisations by offering a wide variety of services ranging from waste collection through to treatment, recovery and disposal of countless waste streams.
Its Middlesbrough-based operation, which has 50 members of staff, specialises in processing and correctly disposing of oily water, interceptor waste, marine waste, engine oil and coolants from manufacturers, primarily in Teesside, Newcastle and North Yorkshire.
Craig Dufferwiel, Regional Business Manager at CSG, said: “Providing the children at Whale Hill Primary School with new resources to play with outside is incredibly satisfying.
“This is exactly what the Community Chest scheme is all about. This is the latest donation made by CSG and it is great for us as a business to be able to support schools and other great causes within the local community.”
