A national waste management company has expanded its sewage collection service across Hertfordshire with the addition of a transport depot at Welwyn Garden City.

CSG acquired the site, on Burrowfield, as a base for one of its fleet of sewage tanker trucks, allowing the company to provide its specialist services more conveniently to existing local customers as well as generating new business.

Dave Gailor, CSG group operations manager, said: “Welwyn Garden City is a strategically important location for our business, filling a gap between our existing locations and enabling us to collect waste competitively from customers across Hertfordshire, East Anglia and North London – and we have already received a high number of enquiries from local homes and businesses.

“Previously the majority of these septic tanks were emptied by tanker drivers from our Kent or Hampshire depots, so the addition of this transport hub will improve efficiency as well as offer a springboard to increasing employment.

“We currently have one tanker based at this site but are looking to recruit more professional drivers – both here and at our other depots across the UK.”

CSG offers affordable cesspit, sewage treatment plant and septic tank installation, emptying, cleaning and maintenance services to thousands of customers. The company operates a large fleet of tankers, with experienced drivers delivering a contactless service to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.

All waste collected is safely transported to a fully licensed treatment facility, reassuring customers that it will be processed to the highest environmental specifications.

CSG was founded as a one-man sewage collection business in rural Hampshire more than 85 years ago and now employs a national workforce of nearly 500 people.

The company, which has 26 other sites across the UK, is one of the largest privately-owned industrial and domestic environmental waste management groups in Britain. The business works on the goal of diverting waste from landfill, recovering and recycling as much material as possible.
