Tea party success for CSG retirees

Retired employees of leading waste management specialist CSG gathered in Hampshire for the company’s annual tea party.

The event, which took place at the Norman Rodaway Pavilion in Hedge End, welcomed around 40 guests and offered a chance to reminisce, reconnect and celebrate the legacy of the company’s long-standing support for its people.

The tea party is organised by the Margaret Hart Trust – a unique charity within the private sector that was founded in 1976 by Margaret Hart, wife of CSG founder Edgar ‘Bunny’ Hart. The Trust was created to assist CSG employees and their families during times of financial difficulty caused by ill health.

Now in its 49th year, the Trust continues to support retirees with practical items that enable independent living, such as bath lifts, chair lifts and mobility scooters. Regular home visits are made to beneficiaries, many of whom also receive a Christmas hamper each year.

The Trust is overseen by a small team of trustees, chaired by Hilary Hart – daughter of the late Margaret. Hilary’s sister Heather also remains actively involved in its work.

Hilary said: “The Trust was established to help members of the CSG workforce in times of need.

“As the company has grown, we’ve been able to help more people by providing items that make a real and substantial difference to their lives. It was Mother’s wish – and ours today – to share this good fortune with those in need.

“The Trust is a fantastic legacy and demonstrates our commitment to our people – and not just those currently working. CSG is more than just a business.

“The annual tea party is always well attended and gives our colleagues the chance to get together, smile and share memories.”

In addition to supporting those with serious or long-term health conditions, the Trust also helps several families enjoy holidays each year through the donation of vouchers.

CSG is one of the most diverse waste management operations in the country, offering domestic waste haulage, wastewater engineering, waste treatment and recovery, industrial cleaning and consultancy services.
