Cleansing Service Group (CSG) has completed a contract to clean four fuel oil tanks at Chevron’s fuel terminal in Plymouth. CSG is a Chevron preferred supplier for tank cleaning.

The work carried out by CSG’s specialist tank cleaning team at the Plymouth terminal included emptying, de-gassing and cleaning the four 3,000 gallon (13,600 litre) above ground fuel oil tanks and emptying and de-gassing the two underground oil tanks. On completion the work was fully certified.

On completion all the sludge and other contaminants were remove from site and disposed of safely to comply with environmental requirements. Where possible the waste was recycled.

Darren Negus, CSG’s Eco Cleansing Manager, said: “As is always the case, safety was our first priority. Our operatives have the confined space qualifications required to work in extreme environments and are always equipped with a comprehensive range of safety equipment. A risk assessment was carried out before work started on the two day contract.”

Chevron is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies and is an important supplier to the UK’s energy market. It utilises a series of storage terminals around the country to supply Texaco service stations with a full range of fuels.

Hampshire-based CSG is one of the UK’s most experienced providers of specialist tank cleaning services with staff trained to the highest level to ensure that all health & safety, environmental and legislative requirements are complied with.
