Who are they?

Covering a population of more than one million, Avon Fire and Rescue Service operates across Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Employing around 800 people, the service provides a ‘999’ response to a range of incidents and emergencies – from road traffic collisions and fires, to flooding and chemical spills. In addition to its Portishead HQ, the service has 21 fire stations, a Control Centre and Vehicle Workshops.

CSG was invited to tender for the service’s wet waste clearance and disposal contract.

What do we do for them?

Bringing together CSG’s transport, processing and maintenance teams, we provide Avon Fire and Rescue with a comprehensive interceptor and drainage clearing service. Our professional tanker teams collect and transport the waste to our specialist treatment plant for safe processing, recycling and disposal.

In addition, our experienced service and maintenance engineers have conducted full tank surveys at each of the customer’s 10 sites, advising on the condition of each and developing an ongoing maintenance and servicing programme, including confined space entry where required, to ensure each facility can operate efficiently.

This is a multi-year contract which will enable us to fully service and maintain Avon Fire and Rescue’s sites, helping to extend the lifespan of their infrastructure.

Securing and delivering the contract has been a real team effort from across CSG’s group. The due diligence phase brought together specialist engineers, the contracts team, regional business manager and senior management. Avon Fire and Rescue were impressed with the level of internal auditing and our thorough approach to understanding and addressing their needs.

In their own words

”We have been very impressed by the service provided by CSG since the contract started in mid-2019. Communication has been excellent, responding quickly to all our queries, keeping us informed at all stages and sending service paperwork directly after the maintenance visits. All CSG staff we have dealt with have been friendly, professional and always happy to help and explain.” Annabel Harford, Environmental Manager, Avon Fire & Rescue Service
