Leading waste management specialist CSG has donated funds to help sick children requiring continuing breathing support.

CSG has contributed £600 to Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Ocean Ward through the company’s charitable Community Chest programme.

The hospital’s Ocean Ward cares for children and young people who require long-term ventilation, many of whom will have multiple physical and learning disabilities.

CSG Group Operations Manager David Cashmore said: “We are delighted to make this donation to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, which delivers such tremendous care to more than 100,000 children and young people each year.

“We have supported dozens of good causes through Community Chest since the launch of the scheme four years ago – and we will be supporting many more throughout 2026.”

Birmingham Children’s Hospital delivers some of the most advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting-edge research to children from across the UK and beyond.

Amaan Yasin, Corporate Partnerships Officer at the hospital, said: “We are very grateful to CSG for their support through the Community Chest scheme.

“Every patient and family benefits from the hospital’s charity, which exists to make a real difference to poorly children during difficult times, whether that’s through a newly refurbished playroom or ward, a state-of-the-art piece of equipment or even a toy at Christmas.

“Charitable donations allow Birmingham Children’s Hospital to be at the forefront of what’s possible, ensuring patients and families receive the best care, treatment, experience and environment.”

Similar donations to the Ocean Ward have been put towards new home-leave monitors. These high-tech machines are equipped with pulse rate monitoring, low blood flow and other vital signs, allowing patients to go home safely for important events and home leave.

This has a significant impact for children who otherwise would have spent months on the ward.

CSG helps households and organisations by offering a complete variety of services ranging from

waste collection through to treatment, recovery and disposal of countless waste streams.

The business has more than 650 employees spread over 30 UK locations, including a treatment plant on Colliery Lane in Coventry, which receives emulsified oily water, non-emulsified oily water and non-hazardous waste leachate.
