CSG approved to deliver IOSH training in-house

19 September 2025 by CSG

Waste management specialist CSG has demonstrated its commitment to health and safety by achieving approval to deliver IOSH accredited training courses in-house.

CSG has encouraged colleagues to complete external courses with IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) for many years.

But now CSG, which has more than 650 employees nationwide, has the capability of delivering the fully-accredited programmes through its own trainers across its 30 UK bases.

Andy Hall, Health and Safety Manager at CSG, said the move would allow the business to tailor training to make it more appropriate to the challenges its colleagues face on a daily basis while working within the waste industry.

Andy said: “CSG is now an approved IOSH training centre, which is a significant achievement for the business and one which will improve our training offering for our people.

“By delivering IOSH courses in-house, we can provide the same highly-respected content but also include real-life examples of how the learnings can be implemented within CSG.

“Learners will also be able to discuss topics with peers who also work within the company, which will enable them to apply their knowledge to the context of our business activities.

“This demonstrates that we take safety seriously and we are prepared to invest in our people.”

Andy is a chartered member of IOSH, has a training qualification and training experience, allowing him to deliver the courses effectively.

IOSH will monitor feedback and learning outcomes to ensure the training is being delivered correctly and to a high standard.

There are two courses CSG will deliver initially: Managing Safely and Working Safely.

Managing Safely is intended for managers, while Working Safely is geared towards supervisors.

CSG intends to run three Managing Safely courses and one Working Safely session over the next six months.

Meanwhile, CSG has embarked on a programme of work to improve safety across the board in 2025.

This includes establishing a team of qualified driving assessors to monitor driving standards and improve fuel efficient driving techniques, investing in new induction videos to promote health and safety awareness including a HGV blind spot video presented by its own drivers and engaging colleagues to reduce musculoskeletal injuries.

Andy added: “I am proud to work for a business for which health and safety is far more than just a box-ticking exercise.”
