Waste specialist makes huge donation to Toilet Twinning charity

Waste management specialist CSG has helped provide water and sanitation facilities by twinning more than 150 toilets in developing countries with a five-figure donation to charity.
CSG donates 50p to Toilet Twinning for every household septic tank it empties across the UK. Toilet Twinning helps communities in the developing world create sustainable access to safe drinking water, healthy hygiene and a decent toilet.
After another successful year of domestic cleaning, CSG has handed over £10,515 to Toilet Twinning, taking the business’ overall donation total to £42,515 over the last four years.
Twinning a toilet costs £60, meaning CSG has now twinned more than 700 facilities in the towns and villages that need them most.
Jen Cartmell, Treatment Director at CSG, said: “We’re proud to continue our partnership with Toilet Twinning by making this significant contribution towards its important work.
“CSG has been providing a vital domestic waste disposal service for off-mains customers across the UK for more than 90 years. Supporting Toilet Twinning and helping people in developing countries without toilet facilities is a natural fit and we’re proud to be making a difference.
“We have thousands of domestic customers – some of which have used our collection services for decades – and they often tell us they are equally pleased to support such a worthy cause.”
Toilet Twinning says dirty drinking water, unhealthy hygiene and unsafe sanitation cause the deaths of 1.4 million people every year, including over 1,000 children under the age of five every day.
Meanwhile, according to the World Health Organisation, for every pound spent on water and sanitation, £5.50 is returned to the community through increased productivity and reduced health costs.
Sarah Adlard, of Toilet Twinning’s Partnerships Team, said: “CSG is a longstanding and valued supporter of our work. We are extremely grateful for the £10,515 gift, which will make a huge difference to thousands of people.
“Our projects enable families to build a toilet, have access to clean water and to learn about handwashing and other hygiene principles – but we couldn’t do it without the generosity of our supporters.”
