Group Financial Controller, Competitive Package, Fareham, Hampshire, 35 hours per week

Purpose of the role / Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly management reporting to ensure reporting is completed efficiently and to deadline.
  • Forecast and manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
  • Supervise and manage financial department staff, including management accountants, credit manager, payroll and financial assistants
  • Motivate, develop and lead finance team members to achieve desired results
  • Review and suggest updates and improvements for accounting and financial reporting systems
  • Establish effective performance standards, monitoring actual performance against those standards and correcting where necessary
  • Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation
  • Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Preparation of year end statutory financial statements
  • Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations

Detailed tasks

  • Produce annual financial statements for all group companies on an accurate & timely basis
  • Manage the annual group audit, including liaising with audit team and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Produce monthly management accounts on an accurate & timely basis
  • Forecast and manage the cash flow
  • Ensure the timely production of budgets on an annual basis and to a methodology agreed by the Board
  • Control the various financial functions, (purchase ledger, invoicing, payroll and credit control) in the most cost-efficient manner
  • Collate and produce financial information as may be required by the Board or Finance Director on an ad hoc basis
  • Monitor Group bank accounts on a daily basis
  • Control the Capital expenditure programme
  • Control the recruitment and all personnel functions for finance
  • Manage preparation of HMRC returns e.g. VAT Returns, P46 car, P11d, PSA, etc.
  • Collate and report supplier payment reporting, and gender pay gap reporting information
  • Adhoc projects
  • Regular reviews of regulations and new reporting requirements to ensure that the group comply
  • Work closely with group managers to ensure that the systems and procedures ensure that accurate and timely financial information is available

Person Specification

Skills and Qualifications

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with at least 5 years post qualification experience
  • Previous experience of dealing with annual audit procedures
  • Knowledge of current accounting standards and able to produce statutory accounts using FRS102
  • Knowledge and previous experience in preparing group consolidated accounts
  • Management experience and leadership skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills

  • Attention to detail
  • Good excel and computer skills
